Hello!
I’ve had a little refresh of this space, and my stories blog, to reduce visual clutter and – hopefully – make the spaces easier to navigate. I think in times like these the world needs fewer links to click, you know? Decision fatigue is real and if I keep watching seven-minute YouTube videos with three ad breaks, I might crack and unplug the wifi router.
Ironically I am here with a link for you to click (if you want to! No pressure! It’s not going to change your life either way!). I thought I put together a guide to the No. 1 Readers’ Club on Patreon long ago and wanted to update it… only to find that if I did publish such a thing, it has long since been lost. So I made a new one. It’s split into billing/logistics and membership perks. If you read to the bottom of this post, by the way, you can find a link to a free month of membership. JUST SAYING. I’ve added the link to the menu of this site because to be honest, this blog, my newsletter and Patreon are the only spaces I like to update. I don’t loathe Instagram in the same way I came to loathe Twitter at the end, but I’m not sure it’s where I want to spend all my energy. Does Instagram refill my proverbial cup with joy and love? Not really, and I’m quite good at only following accounts I want to see. Same with Tumblr. You definitely curate the online experience you want to have, but in the face of the algorithm and/or those popular pages where people’s boneheaded stupidity will find you no matter how careful you are, I think I’d rather focus on writing long form content. It’s what I prefer to read.
Speaking of reading, I have a fun book on the go that I can’t return to until I have done laundry, and one of the things I need to launder is the trousers I am currently wearing, which means I am procrastinating just sitting down to write this. Oops?
Look after yourselves,
Francesca
Thanks for reading. If you’d like to read my short stories and see behind-the-scenes work, you can sample? the No. 1 Reader’s Club on Patreon for a month with this link. No pressure to stick around! Think of it as trying a miniature dessert with no requirement to eat the whole menu. You can also find me on Ko-fi. Thank you for your support – you’re helping to fund this space and pay for other costs of running a creative business, like paying editors.
Here are the books I’ve published so far and where you can find them. If you enjoy my book recommendations, browse my Bookshop.org page here.
I’m on social media (reluctantly), via Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook. I prefer my montly-ish newsletter! You can find all my books and my unhinged reviews of books I love on GoodReads and StoryGraph.
